Project Description: Cdd areQuest Asian American (AA) Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NH/PI) Data Disaggregation for Oral Health Equity
Timeline: November 14, 2023 – June 28, 2024
Purpose
This activity builds on lessons learned with CareQuest support in 2022-23 and expands NACHC efforts to address the gap in oral population health data resources for health center patients through partnership with AAPCHO and the organization’s longstanding commitment to increasing collection of social risk data and disaggregating race and ethnicity data. The three components of the proposed activity are:
1. Identify oral health AA NH/PI population data resources
2. Provide education on oral health AA NH/PI population data resources
3. Provide education on how to incorporate AA NH/PI population data resources into benchmarking for quality of care and health outcomes to support success in value based care.
In 2022-23 NACHC partnered with AAPCHO and Asian Health Services worked to develop a webinar on Oral Health Equity Data Gaps as an initial step to learn about and address this issue.
The webinar includes a profile of Asian Health Services, a health center in Oakland, CA and their efforts to build a high-quality dental program that is an integral part of health center services; as well as AAPCHO’s role in supporting these efforts from a national perspective. In 2023-24 NACHC will expand its partnership efforts with AAPCHO to identify oral health AA NH/PI population data resources through an environmental scan that includes a literature search for new findings in the past five years and learning from key informant local experts at health centers that provide dental care in AA, NH/PI communities.
AAPCHO and NACHC will share the results of efforts to identify AA NH/PI oral health population data resources through AAPCHO and NACHC communication vehicles such as blog posts and publications. The organizations will also partner to provide this information for education sessions at NACHC conferences.
AAPCHO and NACHC will also work with NNOHA to share lessons learned from efforts to identify AA, NH/PI oral health population data resources with colleagues in other communities that may be under-represented in prominent national data sources such as Oral Health In America

Deliverable 1: Identify resources for AA, NH/PI oral health population data, including tools and resources for collection of disaggregated AA, NH/PI data •

Activity 2a. Develop data collection training materials and disseminate information via AAPCHO and NACHC communication platform vehicles ie blog, Care Teams Digest.
