About NACHC

NACHC Mission and Vision

The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) was founded in 1971 to promote efficient, high-quality, comprehensive health care that is accessible, culturally and linguistically competent, community-directed, and patient-centered for all. Mission

NACHC’s mission is to promote the provision of high-quality, comprehensive, and affordable health care that is accessible for all, particularly to underserved and vulnerable populations.

Vision

NACHC envisions a nation where everyone has access to quality health care services. Community health centers will be leaders in providing integrated, patient-centered care, reducing health disparities, and ensuring health equity.

History

NACHC was established to unify the interests and efforts of community health centers nationwide. These centers were created to provide primary care services in underserved areas and have grown to become a critical component of the national health care delivery system.

Leadership

NACHC is governed by a Board of Directors, comprised of health center leaders from across the country. The board sets the strategic direction for the organization, ensuring that NACHC remains true to its mission and responsive to the evolving needs of health centers and the patients they serve.

Programs and Initiatives

NACHC supports health centers through a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing their capacity to deliver high-quality care. These include:

  • Policy and Advocacy: Working with federal, state, and local policymakers to promote policies that support health centers.

Our Work

NACHC supports health centers through a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing their capacity to deliver high-quality care. This includes:


Center for Community Health Innovation

The Center for Community Health Innovation focuses on developing and implementing innovative solutions to improve health care delivery and outcomes in community health centers. This includes leveraging technology, data analytics, and new care models.


Clinical Affairs & Care Team Support

This area provides guidance and resources to health centers on clinical practice and care team development. It aims to enhance the quality of care through best practices, clinical guidelines, and professional development opportunities for health care providers.


Environmental Health

NACHC's environmental health initiatives address the impact of environmental factors on community health. This includes efforts to reduce exposure to environmental hazards, promote sustainability, and advocate for policies that protect public health.


Public Policy & Research

NACHC conducts research and policy analysis to inform its advocacy efforts and support the development of evidence-based policies. This work helps to shape health care policy at the federal, state, and local levels, ensuring that community health centers have the support they need to serve their communities.


Quality Center

The Quality Center is dedicated to improving the quality of care provided by community health centers. It offers resources, training, and technical assistance on quality improvement, patient safety, and performance measurement.


Social Drivers of Health Initiative

This initiative addresses the social determinants of health that affect patients and communities served by health centers. It includes programs and partnerships focused on issues such as housing, education, employment, and food security.


Training & Technical Assistance

NACHC provides extensive training and technical assistance to health centers to support their operations and enhance their capacity to deliver high-quality care. This includes webinars, workshops, conferences, and individualized support on a wide range of topics.

Partnerships & Funding

History of Community Health Centers (CHCs)

Community Health Centers (CHCs) were established to provide primary care services in underserved areas. They have grown to become a critical component of the national health care delivery system, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, has access to quality health care services. The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) was founded in 1971 to unify the interests and efforts of these centers nationwide.
