Year 2 872-02 HIV CDS FAQ

Q1: We have baseline, but what exactly is required in addition to Baseline in the monthly data pulls post implementation? Is it the same data elements but we are looking at after the fact. We looked this request over and it looks like a lot of HIV and SOGI data, but how many labs, demographics, etc. do we actually need?

A1: That is correct—it is the same data. The hypothesis is that using CDS to automate test orders will increase appropriate testing for HIV (and if/when it includes PrEP that it will go up)

For the post implementation, we also are wondering if it is possible to identify the category or even if a test was ordered to the patient by using the tool. Pedro included that on the data request; just was not sure about the feasibility or potential options for collecting (12/12/2022)

Q2: What is current Data Request for Year 2? Were there any changes?

A2: Here is a link to the Data Request for Year 2. 2022-12 872 Year 2 Data Request HIV CDS Tool.xlsx Julia says there were no changes.

Q3: As we work on the HIV data request. Is this the correct value set? Additionally, can you please specify what was changed in this data request (if anything)?

A3: The report is largely unchanged, with the labs table being reorganized to improve everyone’s pull, and we also spoke about including a variable that identify whether the test was ordered through the CDS tool, and/or which category was the patient identified as belonging to (post implementation only),

Q4: The materials keep calling this Year 2, but it seems like we are now in Year 3 of this project, or are we not counting the first year?

A4: NACHC’s perspective, we got ONE SINGLE funding document to fund the project for Year 1. We made that money last through a second year. Informally, we started calling that “Year 2” until we realized that formally it was still Year 1. We did not go back to relabel everything “Year 1” So this new year starting August 1, 2022 and going to July 31, 2023 is formally Year 2.
